It's been one year since I started running...mostly to lose weight and shape up. But I surely became addicted over the summer w/ the 5k's and Tri's. And here we are, again, the end of the year.
It's been a while since I posted. But the good news is I've continued to train, even though there was (and still sorta is) alot of holiday fest to be had. I enjoyed it all, especially the days leading up to the Big Day. I think I enjoy those the most. But alas, the Day did come, and all was well, even though my little niece came down w/ strep throat. She was a real trooper and toughed it out, but eventually retired to mommy's bed to nap...for a really long time! Can't blame her.
The family read my mind this year, because usually I don't put out a list of wants....i just don't feel it necessary seeing as I like to give rather than get. But they came up with some great training gear and my sister got a me a great cycling jacket. Mom and Dad included some new Mizuno motion controls so I went right home and ran a few miles before dinner. I had to try 'em out of course!! So now the Bro-in-law wants to run too....never can have too many training partners right???
My goal is to get a 10k in before May.....I was going to do one before Turkey Day, but it did not happen. I'm increasing my mileage and now I have no excuse to get outside w/ the great cold weather gear my hubby got me. The Cleveland half-marathon is May 17, oh boy would that be good. One thing I've realized is I gotta stay focused and take little bites.... looking too far ahead, it just makes it too hard. For me anyway.
I'm still going though, and I never thought I would last year at this time. And here we are again, the end of the year.
It's all good.

Some days...
Some days you're the windshield, some days the bug...I love this saying and that's right about how i'm feeling right now. Only I'm the bug. Hard week this week so far...my legs feel like cement and I think all the holiday fest is getting to me.....it seems like we have party every weekend!
Also, the garlic fries and spicey tomato dip at 4th Street Corner Alley gave me heartburn over the weekend and that didn't help the run much either. But the Cavs won that night, and I DID get the workout in. Although it was a bad one.
Carry on right?

Somethin' New
Since the weather isn't so wonderful, I figured I better get creative with my workouts. I've been putting in good work on the miles, and I'm feelin' good. So tonight was a late night as I ventured out to see my cousin get his All-County honors at the Touchdown Club dinner in Ashtabula. It was a good night, and I was feeling proud when I got home. With the inspired energy, I ran a speed workout on the treadmill, then ran my steps to my basement and up stairs to get a different workout....it was relatively short but I got in some work...and it was different. Amazing what a little creativity can do!

Feelin' Great
I've had an absolute great week of training so far. I've already put in 10 miles on the run and had a great bike ride yesterday afternoon on the trainer (believe it or not, on the trainer!). I have to plow through tomorrow, then take Friday off for a continuing education class. Then back at it Saturday afternoon. I just love it when this type of feeling comes on and you feel like you could run or bike forever during a workout. Of course, my ipod helps out.
I parused my Triathlon magazine today. It was the ironman edition. OOOOOHHHH....while the ironman may be out of reach right now, it definitely is inspiring to look at all those pictures of accomplished triathletes....and of course, the ads for the really cool Tri bikes aren't bad either. lol.
