Outside

Outside for a run today, seeing as it will be 50 degrees! Can't wait! The treadmill is getting way too boring for me. I can't wait for warmer weather. A change of scenery is what I need....

Tough week of training with a crazy week at work. I actually slept every night this week because I was so damn tired. Needless to say, the workout suffered and I felt terrible.

Hoping to get on track w/ a run outside.

It's all good.

The Finish

"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, ' I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that." - Fred Lebow

I'm stickin' to the goals. Adding my mileage. Feeling strong. I CAN finish.

It's all good.

Oh Life

It always gets in the way. This weekend was tough. I added a mile to my run, which was good. But bad new surrounded me, as an aquaintence passed away from cancer on Saturday. And a good friend is beginning a trial tomorrow to fight for his life from pancreatic cancer. I'm a little down, thinking how lucky I am to be feeling so good right now, and there are people I know...my age...dying from CANCER. Tonight I took off. Just not into the work out right now.

God Bless John. A man I knew briefly, but followed his accomplishments and story in the local papers. God Bless Ed. FIGHT BUDDY. NEVER GIVE UP. DON'T EVER GIVE UP.
I'm lucky to know them both.

Motivation

My boss surprised me with a training log today when arrived at work. Thanks Steve! I just wish I had all the time in the world to train! So I'm going to start writing my workouts down in the log and keep up with the blog as well.

Motivation, Motivation, Motivation....my weight is down, my cardio is good, my speed sucks. I'm slow as molassas in this very cold Northeast section of our great state.....ah well...

it's all good.

Feelin' great

Ran outside all week w/ cold weather gear. Feeling great and keeping up with training. A nice short run today was just perfect. Tomorrow i'm gonna get in a bike ride and a short run after. My goal is to start increasing the miles, at least 1 a week.

it's all good.

It's been a year!

It's been one year since I started running...mostly to lose weight and shape up. But I surely became addicted over the summer w/ the 5k's and Tri's. And here we are, again, the end of the year.

It's been a while since I posted. But the good news is I've continued to train, even though there was (and still sorta is) alot of holiday fest to be had. I enjoyed it all, especially the days leading up to the Big Day. I think I enjoy those the most. But alas, the Day did come, and all was well, even though my little niece came down w/ strep throat. She was a real trooper and toughed it out, but eventually retired to mommy's bed to nap...for a really long time! Can't blame her.

The family read my mind this year, because usually I don't put out a list of wants....i just don't feel it necessary seeing as I like to give rather than get. But they came up with some great training gear and my sister got a me a great cycling jacket. Mom and Dad included some new Mizuno motion controls so I went right home and ran a few miles before dinner. I had to try 'em out of course!! So now the Bro-in-law wants to run too....never can have too many training partners right???

My goal is to get a 10k in before May.....I was going to do one before Turkey Day, but it did not happen. I'm increasing my mileage and now I have no excuse to get outside w/ the great cold weather gear my hubby got me. The Cleveland half-marathon is May 17, oh boy would that be good. One thing I've realized is I gotta stay focused and take little bites.... looking too far ahead, it just makes it too hard. For me anyway.

I'm still going though, and I never thought I would last year at this time. And here we are again, the end of the year.

It's all good.

Some days...

Some days you're the windshield, some days the bug...I love this saying and that's right about how i'm feeling right now. Only I'm the bug. Hard week this week so far...my legs feel like cement and I think all the holiday fest is getting to me.....it seems like we have party every weekend!

Also, the garlic fries and spicey tomato dip at 4th Street Corner Alley gave me heartburn over the weekend and that didn't help the run much either. But the Cavs won that night, and I DID get the workout in. Although it was a bad one.

Carry on right?
It's all good.
